NWCP TO HIGHLIGHT NEW LIFESAVING PROGRAM Northwest Citizen’s Patrol 410-664-6927 ext 6----please leave message & they will call back www.nwcp.info/index.php/contact-the-nwcp Each year, thousands of people who suffer from cognitive conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, autism, and traumatic brain injuries wander away from their homes. These individuals are at high risk for life-threatening injuries, and it often takes rescuers many hours to find them. Unfortunately, in some cases, the results are tragic. The Northwest Citizen’s Patrol has partnered with Project Lifesaver International to bring Project Lifesaver to residents of the NWCP service area (upper northwest Baltimore and Pikesville) to ensure that these vulnerable individuals are found quickly. Project Lifesaver consists of a transmitter that is affixed to the patient’s arm or leg and transmits a unique code for each patient. Using specialized receivers, rescuers search for the missing person by entering the patient’s code into the receiver, which allows them to hone in on that transmitter. The program has a 100% success rate. The NWCP is proud to be the only agency in the Baltimore metropolitan area to use his proactive technology. The initial cost for this potentially lifesaving program is $300 for the transmitter and one year’s worth of wristbands & batteries (they need to be changed monthly). Every year thereafter costs $75 for the wristbands & batteries. PLEASE NOTE---A SIMILAR PROGRAM IS ALSO AVAILABLE THROUGH THE LAKEWOOD (NJ) SHERIFF’S OFFICE & BORO PARK (NY) SHOMRIM.
