The national park service has developed a new website to assist people with disabilities find accessible trails, campgrounds, programs, activities, and other services at national parks throughout the United States.

Information will be continually added to the website as it becomes available from various parks across the nation.

The National Park Service offers a free, lifetime pass for US citizens or permanent residents of any age who have permanent disabilities.  Called “America The Beautiful—National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass”, the access pass provides free access to and use of federal recreation sites.

The pass admits the pass holder and passengers in a non-commercial vehicle at per vehicle fee areas and up to three adults at per person fee areas.  The pass may also offer discounts on some fees charged for camping, swimming, boat launching, etc.

The pass can only be obtained in person and is non-transferable.  Acceptable documentation to obtain a pass include a statement from a licensed physician, a document issued by a Federal agency (Veterans Admin., Social Security Disability, or SSI) or a document issued by a state agency.
