Chana Grappel, Project Director
Ezer Mizion’s Children’s Division operates a program on behalf of the Social Services Ministry hosting children and teens with disabilities ages 3-21 in a home-family setup. The program objective is to give parents who care for their child a short break, an opportunity to refresh and recharge, a chance to strengthen the marital and family bond and re-energize for the future.
Families may recommend host families from among acquaintances or staff members at the child’s school or social framework, or may choose from the pool of Hakalah program host families.
Approval of the family for hosting is granted after a home visit by a social worker from the project staff and pending final approval from the Social Services Department. The host families are paid by Ezer Mizion for their hosting services.
Service is available throughout Israel at any time of the year, including Shabbat and chaggim.
Children with special needs are generally entitled to 14 days per year of service.
English speaking contact available.
