Service & Support Animals---Delta and United Air Lines have announced that they will implement a new policy for travelers flying with service or support animals starting March 1. The move comes in response to a growing number of untrained animals wreaking havoc on the carrier’s planes. Travelers with a service or support animal must provide proof of health or vaccination at least 48 hours before their flight. In addition, those with an emotional support or psychiatric service animal will need to supply a doctor’s note and sign a document attesting that their animal can behave. Other airlines are also reviewing their policies. The U.S. Department of Transportation said it is aware of the changes and will monitor the implementation to make sure that the rights of people with disabilities who rely on service animals are upheld.
