Emergency Preparation Guide--An online guide is available to help New Yorkers with disabilities, their caregivers and first responders to create an emergency plan. It includes details on establishing a support network, power disruptions, capturing health information, evacuation, sheltering in place, transportation, gathering important supplies for a go bag and many other aspects of properly preparing for a disaster. Sports Grant---The Access for Athletes program provides athletes with physical disabilities an opportunity to apply for financial assistance in the following areas:

Employment Opportunity For Parents---Ohel’s Early Childhood Mental Health Program in Brooklyn is seeking warm, empathic individuals with excellent communication skills to provide advocacy, coaching, and support to parents of children under age 5 experiencing social, emotional, developmental, medical and/or behavioral challenges. Appropriate candidate should have lived experience as a parent/ caregiver of a child who has had similar issues and has had to navigate multiple child-serving systems on their child’s behalf. Responsibilities include providing advocacy, assisting parents in connecting to community and professional resources, helping them with preparing documents and accompanying them to meetings, acting as a bridge between parents and providers, providing parenting skills training, and facilitating supportive parent groups, and more. Alternatives to Psychiatric Hospitalizations---In an interview on Sept. 7, 2016, Keren Neubach asked Professor. Pesach Lichtenberg about alternatives to hospitalizing psychiatric patients, about the Soteria Program recently opened in Jerusalem, as well as Amit Wolak about “Merchavim” – psychiatric services to your home. In Keren Neubach’s Sept. 7 program, Ran Reznik updates about funding for a program to increase the number of beds in psychiatric wards and for the program to reduce limitations (including strapping) in the psychiatric hospitals.
