L’chaim Shidduch Meetings---L’chaim shidduch organization is scheduling their annual series of shidduch meetings for during the “9 days”. Many shidduchim have emerged from these meetings. Some meetings also deal with individuals with various needs. Details of Monsey meetings received before July 25 will be posted both on their website and in local Monsey papers.  After that date, Monsey and Global meetings can be obtained only on the website or by phone. Check the website often as Av progresses, since new meetings may be added.

ABLE Accounts---The Federal ABLE Act allows people with disabilities to set up a special tax exempt investment savings accounts into which deposits of $14,000 a year (up to a limit of $100,000.00) can be saved without jeopardizing their Social Security or Medicaid eligibility. Monsey saved in these accounts can be used for specific disability related expenses. Only one account per person is allowed. Florida, Nebraska, Ohio, and Tennessee have already begun processing these accounts. Each State has its own regulations. Other States will be following in the near future. Access To Home---Hamaspik of Kings County will be receiving new funding for their Access To Home Program, which provides disability related renovations for those (such as senior citizens) who are not eligible for OPWDD services. For more information, contact Hamaspik at 718-387-8400

CDPAS Aides---The rules directing the New York State CDPAS program which provides personal care aides for the disabled or elderly have been officially clarified. They now allow a relative living under the same roof to be the CDPAS aide for the eligible person needing care.
