Foreclosure Prevention---The New York State Mortgage Assistance Program (NYS-MAP) will offer mid-sized loans with no-interest to homeowners who are at risk of foreclosure and are unable to get assistance from other foreclosure prevention programs. This program was created and funded by the Attorney General to keep New Yorkers in their homes while facing financial hardship. NYS-MAP helps homeowners affected by financial hardship to bridge gaps on back mortgage payments, giving them a second chance to hold on to their homes and a helping hand at recovering financial stability. To access the program homeowners must work with a local foreclosure prevention professional with the Attorney General’s Homeownership Protection Program. One such organization available to the residents of Southern Brooklyn is Brooklyn Housing and Family Services, which receives funding from Councilman Greenfield, they can be reached at (718) 836-2687.
Anyone interested in assistance should act quickly. The program will run only as long as funds are available. For more information about assistance with any housing issues please contact the office of Councilman David Greenfield at (718) 853-2704.
