Voting Is Empowerment---The New York Disability Voter Network aims to create a disability voting bloc in order to increase the political power of people with disabilities in the state. To join, volunteer or register to vote visit www.nydvn.org.
Employment Assistance---New York’s Department of Civil Service has created a website portal to help people with disabilities to find employment. Employers are urged to check the site’s job seeker database when looking to fill a position. Visit www.cs.ny.gov/rp55/.
FCC ASL Consumer Support---The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has launched a video consumer support service called the ASL Consumer Support Line. The Support Line is specifically designed to enable consumers who are deaf and hard of hearing to engage in a direct video call with a consumer specialist at the FCC. The service will allow consumers who are deaf and hard of hearing to communicate in their primary language, American Sign Language (ASL).
