Dor Yeshorim—Dor Yeshorim is a pre-engagement program that tests prospective couples for a number of Jewish genetic conditions, with the goal of preventing the marriage of two carriers. The have now added tests for another seven conditions, which can be done on an optional basis. These conditions include:
- Barde-Biedl Syndrome (BBS2)
- Lipoamide Dehydrogenase Deficiency (E3)
- Joubert Syndrome (JS)
- Maple Syrup Urine Disease (MU)
- Nemaline Myopathy (NM)
- Usher syndrome Type 1 (US1)
- Walker-Warburg Syndrome (WW)
Testing for these additional conditions can also be done on blood previously drawn by their program. There is an additional fee for the new tests. Call your local Dor Yeshorim office for more information.

Feeding Program—Professor Donitz runs a feeding program at Tel Hashomer’s pediatric gastro department for children who have not developed eating skills or who have stopped eating. This 4-week program can be done either on an inpatient or outpatient basis. It includes treatments around food – therapeutic picnic where children learn to get to know and try foods in a pleasant setting, an ST, working with a medical clown, hydrotherapy, physical therapy, music therapy, and a support group for parents. Professional Course—“Treating disabled children who have been hurt”. This course is geared to female professionals working with the Charedi community who have a degree and minimum 3 years professional experience treating children with special needs.
