Benefits QuickLINK
From AARP Bulletin- submitted by G.T.
Want to find out if you or your family members qualify for public benefits for older Americans and families with children? Benefits QuickLink, a new AARP financial tool, can help. It’s a free online service that lets you find and apply for state, federal and private benefits programs more easily.
The tool is most useful for people who are 50 and older with a limited income ($25,000-$30,000), often grandparents and older parents who are raising children, and family members who are looking for resources for their older parents, says Lori Strauss, national coordinator of AARP’s Benefits Outreach Program.
Using Benefits QuickLink, you can find eligibility and application information for Medicare savings programs; Medicare prescription drug coverage; state pharmaceutical assistance programs; Medicaid for the aged, blind and disabled; Medicare Rx Extra Help; food stamps; earned income tax credits; low-income home energy assistance; state property tax relief; supplemental security income; and telephone assistance. You can also find information on benefits for families raising children (such as Medicaid for children and state children’s health insurance programs) and 250 private prescription drug programs offered by pharmaceutical companies.
