A government program which helps certain categories of New York State residents purchase a home of their own. 

This program was recently expanded to include parents and guardians of people with disabilities.  The program is only available to clients of the OMRDD (Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities) and the State Office of Mental Health.  Applicants must be first time home buyers who have an income that is 80% of the region’s median income. 

Referral by the OMRDD and OMH is necessary to qualify for this program.
