Brachial Plexus Neuropathy

A nervous system disorder caused by damage to the brachial plexus, the nerve bundle that controls sensation and movement of the arm.  It may be congenital or be caused by trauma, pressure from a tumor, radiation therapy, or an inflammatory condition.  Symptoms include shoulder pain, shoulder, hand, or arm numbness or weakness, tingling or burning pain, or Horner’s syndrome (drooping eye, small pupil, decreased facial sweating).  Treatment involves anti-inflammatory drugs, painkillers, physical therapy, or surgery.
