A chronic, infectious disease that affects many body systems. Caused by Human Immunodeficiency virus (HIV) that attacks the immune system. Transmitted by contact with body fluids. Symptoms include fatigue, weight loss, sweating, diarrhea, enlargement of lymph nodes, coughing, and problems with the nervous system, such as memory loss. Infections and cancers which afflict people with a weakened immune system occur. Can be somewhat controlled by a combination of antibiotics.
