Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID)
A group of inherited disorders with severe deficiency of both antibody and cell-mediated immunity. It begins early in infancy with failure to thrive, chronic diarrhea, skin rashes, and recurrent, life threatening infections. It can be fatal in childhood unless properly treated. Treatment includes bone marrow transplant.
