Myocardial Infarction
Heart attack caused by blockage of one or more of the blood vessels leading to the heart. Symptoms include anginal chest pain (squeezing chest discomfort or heaviness radiating to one or both arms or to the back), sometimes accompanied by nausea, vomiting, or sweating. Treatment includes oxygen, aspirin, heparin, and interventions to open the blocked arteries, including medications, angioplasty, or coronary artery stenting.
