Duane's syndrome

Certain nerves of the estraocular muscles become misdirected during fetal development.  This causes misalignment of the eye, may limit eye movement, and the affected eye retracts into the eye socket with attempted movement.  In most cases, both eyes are affected, and often require surgery.
