Verizon customers who are legally blind, disabled, or over 62 years of age are eligible to receive priority repair service from Verizon for their landline phone lines.  They are also provided special protections concerning disconnections of phone service if they have trouble paying their bill.

You will need to contact your local Verizon business office to request a form to register for these special services.  Once they receive the form, they will note your account with a code and give you special consideration.

On the same form, you can also request third party notification---authorizing Verizon to notify a person or agency of your choosing in case you have an overdue bill or service cut-off notice.  That person or agency will not be responsible to pay your bill—they are only responsible to contact you and work with you to make sure the bill is paid, so that your service will not be disconnected.

Third party notification is very helpful in cases where the customer is busy with medical issues, frequent hospitalizations, unable to read their bills, or overly forgetful.

Upon request, Verizon can also provide Braille and Large Print bills.

Verizon also has a program which may provide free or low cost special types of telephone equipment for the disabled. For more information, call Verizon’s Center For Customers With Disabilities at (your area code)-890-0550  V/TTY
